McMullen Furniture is and always has been a family business. Starting in the 1940's with John "Harry" McMullen together with his mother Mary, they founded and operated the very first store in Saxton PA. They run this store together until Harry's brothers returned from WWII, Russ and Mike. Two more stores were opened in Mt. Union PA and Altoona PA. Mike and Russ continued to run a successful business for many years up until their retirement in the 1970's.
The business then became incorporated by Harry's nephew and Manager Ed Miller who now holds the title of President and Owner. As tradition is the foundation for this family, Ryan, Ed's son now Manages the daily operations of the remaining family store located at their current location on N. 2nd Street in Juniata area of Altoona.
A devastating fire destroyed the building on April 30th, 1978 and although the building was a loss, Harry and Ed's dedication to their customers drove them to open for business the next day in the store warehouse.
